Classic Grapes of France

This delightful mixed case showcases six wines that represent a super introduction to the wines and principal grape varieties of France, at a great price!

The case includes:

  1. Marilyn Lasserre, Les Argelieres Viognier
    • Superb value Viognier that displays the hallmarks of this grape variety; peach, apricot & honeysuckle. The trick when growing Viognier is to preserve acidity, which is demonstrated beautifully here.
  2. Marilyn Lasserre, Les Argelieres Chardonnay
    • One of the world's most popular grapes, Chardonnay is beloved by winemakers due to its great versatility and adaptability to different growing conditions. This example showcases golden apple notes with tropical fruit and toasty oak.
  3. Big Beltie, Sauvignon Blanc
    • Before New Zealand Sauvignon conquered the world, France set the benchmark for this exceptionally expressive grape variety. Instead of the overt gooseberry and tropical character of NZ Sauv, French examples display more restrained notes of green apple and grapefruit. Perfect for a sunny day...
  4.  Marilyn Lasserre, Les Argelieres, Pinot Noir
    • A sensational value Pinot Noir. We have highlighted this wine as exceptional in the Wine Merchant Magazine's 'Top 100' blind tasting competition two years consecutively. Exceptional display of Pinot Noirs ethereal character.
  5. Elaboration, GSM
    • GSM is a world-famous acronym for 'Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre', the three most important grape varieties in the Southern Rhone, France. The Elaboration 'GSM' beautifully combines Grenache's fruity, frenetic energy with the brooding, peppery spice of Syrah and Mourvedre.
  6. Chateau Tour de Luchey, Bordeaux Rouge, 2020
    • A predominantly Merlot-led Bordeaux Blend, with 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc completing the assemblage, the Tour de Luchey 2020 offers soft, easy-drinking Bordeayx, very much in the model of the old 'luncheon claret'!
